Greys lean warm, with a hint of brown or taupe, or cool, with blue or green undertones. Warm greys suit rooms with timber, tan leather and earthy paint colours; cool greys suit crisp white interiors and blue or black accents. Is grey carpet a good choice?

Choose a warm or cool grey to match your walls and furniture, and a flecked or heathered yarn if you want the most forgiving surface.

What colour walls go with grey carpet?

Whites and off whites are the safe pairing, with warm whites for a warm grey and crisp whites for a cool grey. Soft blues, greens and deeper navy also sit well with grey carpet, and timber tones add warmth. Bring a paint swatch in, or take a carpet sample home, to check the two together.
