Linoleum or sheet vinyl?
Linoleum is made from natural raw materials and contains no PVC, which is why it is chosen where a natural, low emission, climate positive specification matters. Sheet vinyl is the usual choice where the budget is tighter or where a wet area needs a slip rated safety floor. Many projects use both: Marmoleum in classrooms, wards and offices, safety vinyl in kitchens, bathrooms and laundries. The commercial team can advise on the right mix for your building.
- No PVC, no plasticisers
- Class 34/43 rated
- Safety vinyl for wet areas

Frequently asked questions
What is linoleum flooring?
Linoleum is a natural floor covering made from linseed oil, wood flour, limestone, natural resin and jute on a jute backing. Forbo Marmoleum, the linoleum Jupps supplies, contains up to 98 percent natural raw materials, no PVC and no plasticisers, and is climate positive from cradle to gate. It comes as a 2.5mm sheet in 2m wide rolls, and as tiles and planks.
Is linoleum the same as vinyl?
No, although the names are often mixed up. Vinyl is a plastic (PVC) floor covering. Linoleum is made from natural raw materials and contains no PVC, it is naturally bacteriostatic and it is fully biodegradable at end of life. Both are supplied in sheet form and heat welded at the seams, and both are used in commercial buildings, but they are different materials with different specifications.
Where is linoleum used?
Marmoleum is rated Class 34 commercial and Class 43 light industrial, so it suits schools, universities, hospitals, clinics, aged care, offices, libraries and public buildings. It handles normal spills and mopping, but it is not recommended for wet rooms or areas with standing water; the commercial team will recommend a slip rated safety vinyl for those.
Can I buy linoleum for my home from Jupps?
Yes. Marmoleum is rated Class 23 for domestic use and it is a popular choice for kitchens, living areas, hallways and bedrooms in homes that want a natural, easy care floor. Visit your nearest Jupps showroom to see samples and book a free measure and quote; colours are ordered in through Forbo Australia, so allow for the lead time.
How much does linoleum flooring cost?
Pricing depends on the range, the quantity, the subfloor and the site, so we do not publish it online. For a home, book a free measure and quote at your nearest showroom. For a commercial project, send the commercial team your plans or floor area and the colours you are considering and they will come back with a supply and install quote.
Does Jupps install linoleum in regional WA?
