About marble look tiles

Real marble is beautiful and impractical: it etches from lemon juice, stains from red wine and needs sealing every year or two. Marble look porcelain prints the veining onto a fired body that ignores all of that, which is why it has taken over bathrooms, ensuites and feature walls. The best ranges now vary the print across dozens of faces so a wall does not repeat.

The looks here run from the soft grey veins of Carrara (International MTC Apuan Carrara, Overland Vento Bianco) through the bolder gold and grey of Calacatta (Calacatta Gold, Marazzi Allmarble) to dark and coloured stones (Bellissimo Onyx, Flaviker Supreme Hedonism). For walls, vanities and benchtops, the slim porcelain slabs (Marazzi Grande Marble Look, Cotto d’Este Kerlite Plus, Portobello Taj) run up to 1200×2800 with almost no grout lines.

Gloss finishes look most like polished stone; matt and honed finishes are safer on floors and hide water marks. Order a sample through your nearest Jupps tile showroom, or send us the rooms and sizes for a supply quote.

Frequently asked questions

Is marble look porcelain as good as real marble?

For anything that gets wet or used, it is better. Porcelain does not etch, stain or need sealing, and it is harder than marble. Real marble still has a depth that porcelain approaches but does not fully match, which matters on a feature wall and matters less on a bathroom floor.

Can I use gloss marble look tiles on a bathroom floor?

Gloss is slippery when wet, so we recommend matt or honed finishes with a P3 or R10 rating on bathroom floors. Gloss is fine on walls.

What are porcelain slabs?

Large, thin porcelain sheets, typically 1200×2800 and 6mm thick, used for feature walls, shower walls, vanity tops and benchtops with almost no joins. Kerlite, Grande Marble Look and Taj on this page are slab ranges.

Do the veins repeat?

Good ranges print 20 to 60 different faces per colour so a wall does not look tiled. The specification table on each range notes the shade variation.
