About outdoor tiles

Outdoor porcelain does two jobs a natural stone paver cannot: it does not fade in the Pilbara sun or stain from salt, leaves and red dust, and it comes in an external finish with a tested slip rating, so a wet pool surround stays safe. Every range on this page carries an R10 or R11 external option, and most match an indoor tile from the same collection so the floor can run from the kitchen out to the alfresco without a step change in colour.

The looks run from natural stone (Cotto d’Este Limestone, Kronos Nativa, Cerdomus Pietra di Trani) through concrete and terrazzo (Panaria Context, Portobello Lombarda) to timber-look decking planks (MaxGlory Entice) and stacked-stone cladding for feature walls (Keradom Rilieve). The 20mm pavers, such as Limestone, are thick enough to lay directly on compacted sand, grass or pedestals without glue.

Bring the alfresco dimensions and a photo of the house colours into a Jupps tile showroom, or send them through and we will quote supply, or supply and lay, across the Mid West and Pilbara.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a 20mm paver and a normal outdoor tile?

A 20mm paver is twice the thickness of a standard 9 to 10mm tile, so it can be laid loose on compacted sand, grass, gravel or pedestals with no adhesive. Standard external tiles are glued to a concrete slab. Both are the same porcelain and carry the same slip ratings.

Which slip rating do I need for a pool surround?

Look for P4 or R11 for any surface that is regularly wet and walked on barefoot. P3 or R10 is fine for covered alfrescos and dry patios.

Will outdoor porcelain fade in the Pilbara sun?

No. The colour is fired into the tile, so it does not fade, stain or need sealing. That is the main reason we recommend porcelain over natural stone in Karratha, Port Hedland and Exmouth.

Can I run the same tile from inside to the alfresco?

Yes. Most ranges on this page have a matching indoor finish in the same colour, so the floor reads as one surface with only the finish changing at the door.
