About terracotta look tiles

Terracotta is fired clay, and real terracotta floors are soft, porous and need sealing every year. The porcelain versions here keep the warm, mottled orange and clay colours and the slightly uneven surface, in a tile that shrugs off spills and can run out to the alfresco. It is the floor of Tuscan villas and, increasingly, of Australian coastal and Mediterranean-style homes.

Cerdomus Valdorcia Terracotta is the traditional cotto floor look. For walls and splashbacks, APE Hurl and Piemme Homey bring glazed terracotta tones in small formats, and Arvex Mosaic Unglazed and International MTC Flute add unglazed and fluted mosaics. The brick-look ranges on the site carry the same warmth in a brick format.

Terracotta reads very differently in strong WA light, so take a sample home before you decide. Order through your nearest Jupps tile showroom, or send us the rooms and sizes for a supply quote.

Frequently asked questions

Is terracotta look porcelain slippery?

No more than any porcelain. Choose a matt or structured finish with a P3 or R10 rating for floors and outdoor areas.

Does terracotta look fade in the sun?

Porcelain does not. Real terracotta lightens and chalks outdoors; the printed versions keep their colour.

Can I use terracotta look tiles outside?

Yes, where the range has an external finish. Valdorcia Terracotta has an outdoor option and matches the indoor tile.

What colours work with terracotta?

Warm whites, sage green, navy and natural timber. Cool greys fight it.
