NFD Daintree Engineered Timber Flooring
Daintree by NFD is genuine Australian engineered timber: a 2mm sawn hardwood veneer over a stable engineered core, finished with a brushed surface. Three native species, Blackbutt, Spotted Gum and Tasmanian Oak, are available in two board widths, the 136mm Daintree and the wide-format 190mm Daintree XL, both in a substantial 15mm build.
Because the wear layer is real sawn hardwood, Daintree is recoating approved, meaning the floor can be refreshed rather than replaced down the track. It installs with either a 5G click system or traditional tongue and groove.

What species does NFD Daintree come in?
NFD Daintree is available in 3 Australian native species: Blackbutt, Spotted Gum and Tasmanian Oak. Each is offered in both the 136mm Daintree board and the 190mm Daintree XL board. As real timber, natural variation in grain and tone between boards, samples and photographs is part of its character.
What is the difference between Daintree and Daintree XL?
The species, 15mm thickness and 2mm veneer are identical; only the board width differs. Daintree is 136mm wide and Daintree XL is 190mm wide, both 1900mm long. Wider boards show more of each plank face and suit larger open-plan rooms, while the narrower board reads as a more traditional timber floor.
What does recoating approved mean?
Because the wear surface is genuine 2mm sawn hardwood veneer, the floor can be sanded lightly and recoated later in its life rather than replaced. That is a meaningful long-term advantage over vinyl, hybrid or laminate floors, which cannot be refinished.
Is engineered timber suitable for wet areas?
Daintree is real timber, so it should be treated like any quality wood floor: wipe up spills promptly and maintain a stable indoor environment. Engineered construction is significantly more dimensionally stable than solid timber, but timber floors are not recommended for bathrooms, laundries or other wet areas.
How does Daintree compare to Heartridge Riviera Oak?
Both are engineered timber. Daintree showcases Australian native hardwoods, Blackbutt, Spotted Gum and Tasmanian Oak, with a 2mm veneer over a 15mm build. Riviera Oak features European oak with a 3mm veneer at 14mm. The choice usually comes down to whether you want a genuinely Australian timber or a European oak aesthetic.
