Tranquility has an acoustic backing bonded to each plank, which absorbs impact sound rather than transmitting it through the floor. In practice that means quieter footsteps underfoot and less noise carrying to the room below, which is why acoustic floors are often specified in apartments, upstairs rooms, offices and aged care facilities.
Tranquility is designed to withstand everyday household spills and moisture, making it suitable throughout the home including kitchens. While vinyl plank offers excellent water resistance, no floor should be regarded as completely waterproof, as water can enter through joins, edges and other installation points. Spills should be cleaned promptly and installation should be completed in accordance with NFD guidelines.
A fibreglass layer through the plank improves dimensional stability, helping the floor resist expansion, contraction and curling as temperatures change. It is a useful feature in rooms with large windows or significant seasonal temperature swings.
