We are proud to share the successful completion of the Matt Dann Theatre & Cinema flooring upgrade in Port Hedland, Western Australia, a project that perfectly highlights the importance of meticulous surface preparation when working in high-traffic public spaces.

The theatre presented a unique challenge: what began with extensive substrate removal and surface grinding quickly became an exercise in precision and persistence. Our team’s expertise in commercial floor preparation and moisture control systems ensured that the project was delivered to the highest standard, ready to withstand the demands of a busy entertainment venue.

 

Project Scope & Process

  • Existing floor removal and grinding: We mechanically ground back the existing flooring system, exposing a clean, even substrate.
  • Moisture barrier application: To protect against subfloor moisture and ensure long-term performance, we installed Ardex WPM368, a high-performance moisture barrier specifically engineered for commercial projects.
  • Layout preparation: The substrate was carefully marked and prepared to receive the new flooring system, guaranteeing accuracy, alignment, and a flawless finish once the installation commenced.
